Komori America and MBO America Enjoy Success Together at Printing United Expo 2022
29 November 2022
Printing United Expo 2022 was held from October 19 to 21, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It was the first major face-to-face print industry trade show held in the US since 2019, and the exuberance of the attendees was high. The Las Vegas Convention Center was a great venue, and of course the city was a fantastic destination for post-show entertainment. The Expo was well attended from the minute the doors opened Wednesday through its close on Friday afternoon.
For the first time in America, Komori America and MBO America, from a common booth, showed the industry their combined strength as a single-source printing and finishing solution provider with the theme of "Performance Unparalleled." Printed samples from the Commercial, Packaging and Inkjet market segments were on display, along with videos showing Komori customers and their Komori presses producing the samples. The Commercial samples, printed on the new eight-color Lithrone G40P advance with coater, and Packaging samples, printed on the new six-color Lithrone G40 advance with coater and six-color Lithrone GX40 advance with coater, showed the high print quality, versatility and extremely high productivity of the new Komori advance series press platform. The advance series of presses includes the highest levels of automation, connectivity and productivity for the aggressive needs of the new print industry: reduced labor, higher productivity and greater sustainability for the future.
The commercial sample, printed on an eight-color Lithrone G40P advance with coater, included a 2D code and fold accuracy targets so that the new MBO Autonomous Production System could fold, check quality and deliver the product with no operator input. The modular folding system was configured with MBO's K8RS folder, VT50 Quality Unit and CoBo-Stack Automated Palletizer. Folding and stacking the high-quality sheets in the booth drew a large crowd every time it ran.
Additionally, MBO America demonstrated their popular modular Rollfed Finishing System for the continuous forms inkjet market. Production of a complicated, direct-mail self-mailer, was demonstrated in the booth using printed rolls produced on the Canon ProStream 1800.
The print was coated on one side using the new MBO FC23 coater, showing the value of embellishing the print with UV gloss coating for added visual appeal. Additionally, a CR80 size advertising card was tipped-on inside the folds, prior to securely closing the piece with fugitive glue. Value was demonstrated using their single-touch modular finishing systems and also by showing the expertise that MBO America brings to their customers through integration of many finishing processes into a one-step finishing line. "Touch it once to print it.......Touch it once to finish it" is an industry-leading production model in the commercial print sector.
Because embellishment for continuous forms inkjet print is gaining popularity, MBO America displayed their new FC23 coater in a double-sided UV flood coating configuration. The unit has been upgraded on many fronts with concentration on ease of operation and fast makeready to fit the new inkjet market. The FC23 was sold at the show to SPC Communications in Niles, IL, and will be installed on one of their multiple MBO Rollfed finishing lines.
Komori America and MBO America were happy to host many valued customers and enthusiastic new prospects during the event. We were also happy to announce that three new Komori advance presses (Lithrone G40P advance, Lithrone GX40P advance, and Lithrone GX44RP advance) were sold, and all the MBO America systems displayed in the booth (MBO Rollfed Line, MBO K8RS/CoBo-Stack Folder System, and MBO FC23 Flood UV Coater) were also sold. It is clear that the printing industry in America is alive and well!
